Goat Hill Pizza
About This Spot
Settled on Connecticut Street in the heart of San Francisco’s vibrant Potrero Hill neighborhood, Goat Hill Pizza invites you into a warmly lived-in, no-frills space that feels like a neighborhood gathering place where familiarity is part of the charm. The pace here slows just enough to savor the simple pleasure of a well-made slice, the aroma of sourdough crust wafting through the air, and the quiet rhythm of a community spot that’s been quietly steady for decades.
Walk in and you’ll find yourself among a blend of locals who have their favorite corners and newcomers drawn by the restaurant’s steady reputation. The atmosphere is unpretentious but rich with the texture of everyday life—friendly exchanges between staff and guests, soft clinks from the kitchen, and that unmistakable comforting scent of wood-fired dough. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a casual meal or grab a slice to-go, and both feel equally right.
The heart of the experience is in the food itself, which balances tradition and a playful spirit. The sourdough crust stands out, delivering a tangy, crunchy base that quietly celebrates the city’s time-honored baking roots. Whether it’s a classic pepperoni pie with its perfect chew or a more adventurous specialty highlighting fresh, thoughtfully combined ingredients, each bite feels like a little nod to the city’s layered history and love for good pizza. Sides and starters, like hand-spiced wings or hearty salads, round out the meal in a way that encourages lingering and conversation.
Goat Hill Pizza doesn’t rush you; its vibe is comfortably familiar, inviting you to slow down and enjoy a meal that’s as much about connection—whether to the city’s past or your own simple pleasures—as it is about flavor. It’s a local cornerstone with heart and soul, where the genuine warmth of the staff and the steady quality of the food come together to create a quietly special moment in the bustling pace of San Francisco life.

Well worth the trip up Potrero Hill. This place is a city staple and the pizza is delicious. Whether dining in or takeout, it's always amazing. The atmosphere is cozy and rich San Francisco history. The staff is always friendly and inviting. Our Favorite Pizza Spot!

Got 2 small pizzas delivered. The pepperoni pizza was the best. Potato pizza was solid. Lemon pizza had a lil too much lemon. Fantastic chewy crust. Ranch was amazing.

This is one of those places that I consider old school San Francisco, a neighborhood gem and one I wish will never go away and stay just the way it is. I've been going to this place since the early 80's, in my college years, through working various jobs in the city and living in different neighborhoods, and now into the latter years. Its food is good in all regards, a reliable standard, the staff friendly and the facility remains in good order after all these years. So perhaps it isn't just the food, the staff and the restaurant, but in the aspect that it also holds a lot of good memories from the past with old friends and previous dates, it's precious in that way for me. Keep on rockin' Goat Hill Pizza, they don't make restaurants like you anymore.

Classic San Francisco neighborhood spot for sourdough pizza and family dinner vibes. The highlight for me is the crust. Their signature sourdough is what makes the pizza a total standout—it’s tangy, crunchy, and sets up the whole pie perfectly. I always recommend going for one of their specialty options; the Hilda’s Favorite (pesto and goat cheese) is one of my favorites, but I'm also a fan of the porky pie (with whole roasted garlic cloves and bacon).. My biggest tip? If you can handle the crowd, check out their legendary All-You-Can-Eat Monday night. Just be warned, you’ll probably have to wait awhile to get seated, but it’s a fun, chaotic tradition.

Utterly fantastic little hidden gem of a pizzeria. The staff is beyond friendly and genuinely love their pizza and their customers. The pizza itself is out of this world and I tried the buffet which gives you access to one hot slice after another. This is a must do Monday only tradition. The crust is a perfectly crisp sourdough and toppings and all ingredients are of the highest quality. Why are you even reading this! Go out and eat here now! Parking is very easy. Especially for SF. Safe neighborhood.

Pizza is served HOT with a crispy crust. Flavorful tangy sauce, steaming cheese and topping, and a nice crackle. The pictures drawn by kids who had visited that were hung up were charming. The silverware and napkins were not entirely clean though, but hey, it's pizza.
